Peppermint – Mentha piperita
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has been a classic essential oil choice for the treatment of nausea for many years. Studies have shown it to be effective for reducing PONV (post-operative nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy-induced nausea, pregnancy-related nausea, and colonic spasms during colonoscopy. Peppermint is believed to exert its influence on the gastric lining and colon through its alcohol compounds, menthone and menthol.
Directions for use:
Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.
Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.
