Frequently Asked Questions
What are Soothing Scents inhalers?
Soothing Scents inhalers are personal soothing systems that diffuse an essential oil vapor formula when opened and used. Each formula, or blend, is created using selected scents with different therapeutic properties. Combined, these scents aid a variety of wellbeing goals, from building focus to stress relief to settling feelings of queasiness. Because our inhalers are made for people with busy lifestyles, our inhalers have been designed to be discreet, leak-proof, easy to use and ingredient-preserving. You can keep them in your pocket or bag, to use whenever and wherever you need.
Why should I use them?
For many reasons! Most importantly, our inhalers provide a safe, uncomplicated, and convenient way to promote feelings of health and wellbeing.
Using Soothing Scents inhalers:
- Are personal and compact, allowing you to use your essential oils on the go, without fear of leaks or imposing your practice on others around you.
- Offer a discreet, fast-acting and spontaneous method of dealing with feelings that can arise in the moment, like nausea, morning sickness, brain fog or rapid stress.
- Are extremely easy and safe to use – no need to worrying about dosage requirements, side effects, irritations, contraindications or reliance concerns
- Offers a sensory delight of some of your favorite smells, including bergamot, lavender, cinnamon, peppermint, rosemary and ylang-ylang. You can view our list of oils on our scents page.
How do I use them?
We’ve designed our products to be very user-friendly. To use our aromatic inhaler, twist the cap gently to raise the cylinder, place under your nose and breathe as often as needed. Our aromatic pods (QuickTAB) and compact inhaler (Clippy) can be peeled back and placed under the nose for shorter-use relief. You can view all user instructions on our product pages when you shop.
Who can use them?
Soothing Scents products are designed to be safe for the elderly population, pregnant women and those taking multiple medications. There is, however, limited research on essential oil use in the following populations, therefore we suggest you exercise caution in these cases:
Children under 12 months: When looking at essential oil (EO) safety profiles for children, it is important to note that the majority of EO toxicities involve accidents with children under the age of three. These incidents typically involve ingestion of the essential oils or essential oils applied directly to skin or mucous membranes: Menthol, one of the EO constituents of peppermint, and 1,8-cineole, one of the EO constituents of eucalyptus, have been implicated in causing respiratory distress in infants and young children. In each of these cases, the EO was instilled as drops directly into the nose.
Our delivery systems ensure that essential oils do not come into direct contact with the skin or mucus membranes or allow for ingestion of essential oils, and contain a very low ambient concentration, which can be used safely and effectively in children if used as directed.
Pets: Dogs and cats are more sensitive to diffused oils than humans, which may pose a risk to their health, including possible toxic reactions. Because of this, we advise not using Soothing Scents products on your pets without consulting your veterinarian first.
What are the side effects?
Essential oils, when they have been inhaled correctly through the appropriate delivery system, haven’t had any reported side effects. We do recommend caution if a user has a history of scent sensitivities or, in extremely rare instances, a true allergy to any of the oils used in our products. You can view our ingredients on each product page.
Do Soothing Scents products have a shelf life?
All unopened inhalers last indefinitely so long as they are stored in a cool, dry place.
